The sites usually provide a local modem speed test site so ensure that the most accurate results are obtained. It is important to know where the server for the modem speed test site is located because using a test site that is not close to the modem being tested can reduce the speed of the modem. Also, there are some things that need to be taken into consideration when conducting a modem speed test because they can reduce modem speeds. If the internet is being used by many people it causes network traffic which reduces speed, the computer's performance and configuration, accessing cached or non-cached data, and the location of the server being accessed.
